Stevenson HS Senior Gaby Brakoniecki awarded scholarship by Lusk Albertson
Lusk Albertson has awarded one of four “LAunch Scholarships” for 2017 to Sterling Heights Stevenson High School senior Gaby Brakoniecki. She was selected from more than 200 applicants.
Ms. Brakoniecki is attending Michigan State University in the fall, where she will study biochemistry and biotechnology in University’s Lyman Briggs College, with a plan to continue onto medical school. She has already enriched her medical knowledge through volunteer experiences at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in the Pediatrics and Womens’ Unit, as well as the Oakmont Senior Center. Brakoniecki is a National Merit Commended Scholar, College Board AP Scholar with Distinction, and a member of Stevenson’s Student Council.
Graduating from Stevenson with a 4.19 GPA, Brakoniecki was also involved in the student yearbook and a member of the service organization, Key Club. She was also the co-creator of Polish Dance Group “Dunajec Grupa Mlodziezowa”
“In addition to her academic success, our selection team was impressed with Gaby’s ambition. She has seized opportunities to pursue her passion for science and medicine from an early age. From shadowing medical professionals and doctors to taking on a co-op position with a pediatric dentist, her quest for knowledge across healthcare disciplines is apparent and will serve her well as she pursues a career in medicine,” Kevin Sutton, Partner, Lusk Albertson said. “Coupled with her commitment to community, she is a sterling example of student success within Utica Community Schools,” he added.
Brakoniecki will receive $2,500 toward her education at Michigan State University. Since , 2012, Lusk Albertson has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships to high school seniors.
