Ms. Tinberg has more than 40 years of experience in special education, including 25 years as the Director of Student Services for the Novi Community School District. Since 2013 she founded Thayer-North Educational Consulting, LLLC, and branched out into contracting in a variety of capacities, including as a lead state monitor, an ISD-level complaint investigator, and a consultant to support local districts, PSAs, ESPs, and Intermediate school districts in developing high quality and compliant programming for students with disabilities. Ms. Tinberg has been recognized for her work in the area of special education leadership at the local, state and national levels, and is a past president of the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education and a former chair of the Policy/Legislation Committee for the international Council of Administrators of Special Education. She is a sought-after speaker/trainer on a variety of topics, and her workshops are described as relevant, engaging and impactful.
As the leader of LA Special Education Services,™ Ms. Tinberg provides support for special education and Section 504 compliance, policy work, investigations, staff training and supervision, risk management, difficult 504 or IEP meetings, resolution sessions, mediation, state complaints, OCR complaints, due process hearings and mentoring new and aspiring special education administrators, among other services. Ms. Tinberg and her husband reside in Northville, where she serves as a member of the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. She enjoys exploring new restaurants and attempting to replicate favorite dishes. Other leisure activities include gardening, reading, playing the organ, and her newest endeavor: learning to play the washboard.
