What do you enjoy most about being a lawyer?
Besides the 60 hours weeks? All kidding aside, I enjoy solving problems and helping people navigate difficult situations. There is nothing more satisfying than assisting a client through a sticky and challenging situation unscathed.
Why did you choose education/school law as your preferred practice area?
The people and a belief that the work we are doing makes a difference in people’s lives. The people we interact with care about students and have a student-centered approach to all they do. Helping to clear obstacles so educators can influence the lives of our young people is remarkably rewarding. I don’t think I would take the same level of personal satisfaction in my work if I spent everyday helping major corporations merge.
What do you love about working in Detroit?
Walking distance to Comerica Park! The energy downtown is just amazing. You feel it from the moment you hit the street in the morning, throughout the day, and even when you are wrapping up from a long day. It’s infectious and makes being at work everyday such a joy.
